For those of you who recieve lag when a sound is played in C&C Gold,
chances are you are running it on a NT based system. Correct?
Anyways. Open up the conquer.ini file (usually in c:/westwood/c&c95)
and add these two lines to the file.

[Sound]
BitsPerSample=16

This SHOULD fix your problem.
